Books, acrylic shelf inserts
Dimensions scaled to the books

Five groupings of German-language books were removed from their shelves in the Multilingual Center and relocated in the adjacent lobby. The groupings were selected for their idiosyncratic connections within the existing alphabetical order of the books. The emptied spaces on the library shelves were replaced by bright red acrylic inserts. An identical set of inserts were hung on the wall in the lobby, supporting the removed books. Their position on the wall corresponded with their original location, creating a physical displacement.
